Special Education
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” ~John 16:33
Special Education Services
Espirito Santo School offers a state-of-the-art special education program which ensures students with learning differences can thrive, achieve, and succeed. At Espirito Santo School, we believe that students with learning differences should have full access to a Catholic education by using the accommodations and modifications needed to support their unique learning profile.
At Espirito Santo, we will:
- Work with families to create an Espirito Santo Accommodation Plan which is individually tailored for your student.
- Provide a Full Time Classroom Paraprofessional in Pre-K through Grade 2
- provide teachers who have received training and ongoing professional development in personalized learning and special education.
- Offer Speech and Language services for students on active IEPs, as provided through Proportional Share with the Fall River Public Schools.
- Ensure Dyslexia screening for all students in Kindergarten.
- Provide additional diagnostic assessments to help identify additional learning needs.
At Espirito Santo School, we welcome students with ADHD, dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorders, executive functioning challenges, dysgraphia, language processing or written expression differences, dyscalculia (Math), non-verbal learning differences, and mild vision/hearing impairments. Our program does not at this time have the resources to help students with oppositional defiant disorder, personality or psychotic disorders, or very complex learning profiles.
Students in our special education program will either receive direct services and support from special education teachers, or as push-in services within their classrooms and subjects. Students will be fully integrated into the academic and co-curricular life of the school. Our special education teachers work collaboratively with classroom teachers to ensure that each student receives the instruction, accommodations, and modifications that they need to reach their potential.
We take a team-center approach to support a child and their learning differences. This team includes parents, classroom teachers, administrators, counselors and our special education staff. Collectively, this team will provide short/long term solutions and strategies to help your student succeed.
Title I Services
Espirito Santo School continues to expand our Title I program in order to offer further assistance to all students outside of the classroom. Our staff is able to provide guidance to all teachers with helping students achieve their academic goals. Also, outside of the school day, these educators provide tutoring and homework assistance during our after-school program.
